Petraeus went on to say that he allowed other agencies to alter his talking points as the draft moved to completion and without his final review ". . . to get them out quickly".
I can't speak for others but in my opinion, this does not ring true. A man who reaches the position in leadership that Petraeus reached does not allow changes to his "draft" for the sake of moving information along quickly. Personally, I think Petraeus, who unfortunately is already dainted with scandal because of his affair, is now falling on his sword and shouldering the blame for the very badly handled and mangled events in Lybia.

My two cents. When it's a big deal (and this is a big deal) you don't let people alter your talking points to get them out quickly. Not without proofing them first.
ReplyDeleteI like Petraeus --and even though he was wrong in the affair, he has been a great General and done fabulous things for our country... I'm sad for him ---and feel as if Obama just threw him under the bus (things which Obama seems to do well)....
ReplyDeleteSince there was no security breach, he didn't need to lose his job over this --and the affair didn't even need to be made public... Sad the way the Obama administration treats people.
